The day after Thanksgiving is commonly referred to as “Black Friday”. This day is traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the years and for many signifies the first day of Christmas shopping. While the term black Friday was originally used to represent the day in which retailers returned to profitability many who work in the retail industry use this term as a way to describe the crowds and chaos which accompany Christmas shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. Likewise consumers expect significant sales to go along with the large crowds which flock to stores.
There is also “Cyber Monday” which is the Monday after Thanksgiving which is said to be the best shopping day for online retailers. Many people who return to work on Monday get on their computers and start their shopping online.
For many shopping on the day after Thanksgiving is a tradition which wouldn’t be missed for the world. These individuals look forward to the sales and starting their shopping as a way to get into the Christmas spirit. These individuals can be counted on to arrive before the malls and shopping centers even open to get a great parking spot, to make multiple trips to their cars to drop off packages before returning to the shopping area to make more purchases and to almost literally shop until they drop. For these shoppers trying to get any shopping done on this day is near impossible. They are willing to sacrifice the opportunity to buy some items as gifts at excellent sale prices just to avoid the throng of shoppers who swarm the stores on this one particular day. However, it is important to not that just because these shoppers avoid shopping areas on the day after Thanksgiving does not mean they don’t enjoy great sale prices on the Christmas gifts they purchase. These shoppers may take advantage of sales throughout the year to accomplish their Christmas shopping within their set budget.
There are still others who typically do not do any shopping on the day after Thanksgiving but these individuals do not necessarily avoid the malls and shopping areas on this day either. There are many people who enjoy taking a trip to the local mall or shopping center on the day after Thanksgiving just to enjoy the hustle and bustle the day presents. For these people just walking around and experiencing the excitement around them helps to put them into the holiday spirit.

Ah, is it that time of the year again? You know the one when the trees bare no leaves, the children are shuffling joyfully through the white icy powder, and sweet carols fill the air. Ah, Christmas time sure is a happy time for families to come together. It’s hard to beat the level of love that comes standard with the holiday season. Uh wait, it’s actually not even fall yet. But, anyway, we can still look forward to that wondrous special event full of comfort foods and gifts. Ah yes, there’s the key right there. What amazing new gifts will come at Christmas this year? It’s hard to tell, but I can already see my little one making her list. I don’t suppose children can ever receive too many toys for Christmas.
What do your little rugrats want this year? Are you aware of the hottest new toys for Christmas time? There’s the TMX Elmo, Nintendo Wii, and Playstation 3, just to name a few. It’s a tad difficult to stay on top of these things. How can you possibly sort through the masses? Furthermore, how can you keep all of these potential toys for Christmas straight when the kids are always changing their minds? This is a good question. However, if you can figure out what is on your child’s Christmas list ahead of time, you will surely be ahead of the game. Knowing is half the battle, as G.I. Joe used to say. Now, I do realize that there are always more toys for Christmas to pick and choose from, but are they the ones off the list? Believe me when I say your child will notice. They always do. Once they get their little hearts set on specific toys for Christmas, you’d better find them quick. This is why I like to get the low-down in advance. I find out what my child wants for Christmas, and I purchase it in October. That’s a pretty decent head start. Everyone is consumed with Halloween at that point. This ensures that I get the toy I’m after.

The other day I received a great surprise in the mail box. In among the bills was a Christmas catalog. Receiving this brought me back to memories of my childhood. My sisters and I would spend hours looking through the Sears Christmas catalog picking out the gifts we hoped Santa Claus would bring. Our mom would have us mark the pages that had the toys on that we were the most interested in. She then had us put the Christmas catalog under the tree on Christmas Eve with a glass of milk and a plate of cookies for Santa Claus. On Christmas morning there would be a number of toys that we had marked in the catalog. Mom told us this saved Santa Claus time so that he did not have to read so many wish letters from children.
The Christmas catalog that arrived the other day was filled with great gift ideas. Now that you can place orders on the internet the use of Christmas catalogs is even more convenient. The company that sent this catalog has a site where you can check to see if the items that you want to order are in stock. The weight of the items is tallied along with the price so the total of the shipment is figured out for you as well as the estimated date of arrival.
